Simcere Pharmaceutical Group Limited 先聲藥業集團有限公司 (Incorporated in Hong Kong with limited liability) (Stock code: 2096) VOLUNTARY ANNOUNCEMENT IN RELATION TO THE CLINICAL TRIAL APPROVAL FOR SIM-307 ISSUED BY THE CENTER FOR DRUG EVALUATION OF NATIONAL MEDICAL PRODUCTS ADMINISTRATION OF PRC This announcement is made by Simcere Pharmaceutical Group Limited (the " Company ", together with its subsidiaries, the " Group ") on a voluntary basis to inform shareholders and potential investors of the Company about the latest business advancement of the Group. The board (the " Board ") of directors (the " Directors ") of the Company is pleased to announce that, on April 12, 2021, SIM-307 as an innovative drug pipeline product of the Company, has obtained the clinical trial approval issued by the National Medical Products Administration, PRC ( 中華人民共和國國家藥品監督管理局 ). SIM-307 is an Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) inhibitor developed based on the Aquaporin water channel theory which has been awarded the Nobel Prize. It is administered intravenously and intended for the treatment of acute severe ischaemic stroke complicated by cerebral oedema, as a first-in-class small molecule drug with a novel mechanism of action for brain oedema therapy. The Company entered into a license agreement with Aeromics, Inc. (" Aeromics ") in October 2019, pursuant to which the Company has obtained a proprietary and sublicensable license for its self-funded research, development, production and commercialization of SIM-307 in the Greater China region. Aeromics has completed the phase I clinical trial of SIM-307 in the U.S.. - 1 - ABOUT THE COMPANY The Company is a company engaged in the R&D, production and commercialization of pharmaceuticals with the national key laboratory of translational medicine and innovative pharmaceuticals.
