TORONTO, March 26 /CNW/ - Shoppers Drug Mart announced today that it will launch an innovative new concept store focused solely on meeting the growing health and beauty needs of Canadian consumers. In addition to a full-service pharmacy, the new format will feature an extensive selection of skin care and dermatological products and a full range of prestige cosmetic and fragrance brands, all complemented by the friendly, professional advice of highly trained cosmeticians.

"This new concept will allow us to offer customers a unique and upscale beauty experience. At the same time, it provides us with a platform from which to launch new and exciting prestige brands and exclusive lines as we continue to expand our presence in the marketplace."
Smaller in size than a traditional Shoppers Drug Mart store, the new beauty concept will encompass approximately 5,000 square feet of selling space. The first of these new stores is scheduled to open in Ontario in July of 2008.
Shoppers Drug Mart is also pleased to announce the appointment of Shelley J. Rozenwald as President of this exciting new concept. Shelley, an icon in the Cosmetic world, is a true visionary and has brought over 100 brands to Canada in her career. Her innovative approach to beauty has allowed the cosmetics industry to prosper across Canada and reach a new plateau. Shelley was recognized by the industry in 2007 and was awarded the prestigious Fragrance Lifetime Achievement Award. Shelley has developed innovative retail design and event marketing programs that are world class. Shelley will be responsible for the development and rollout of the new concept.
This exciting new concept is an extension of the Company's successful Beauty Boutique format first launched in 2003. Today, Beauty Boutiques can be found in more than 140 Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix locations across Canada. In addition to this new concept, the Company plans to continue with the roll-out of up to 40 additional Beauty Boutiques at select drug store locations in 2008.
