Last week, SGL Carbon celebrated the expansion of its production capacity at its St. Marys site (USA). SGL Carbon has invested around USD 100 million in the expansion of the site in recent years.
SGL Carbon manufactures high-purity graphite for its customers' most demanding applications. This graphite is processed at the St. Marys site, primarily for the U.S. market. St. Marys primarily serves customers in the semiconductor manufacturing sector and those involved in small, modular next-generation nuclear reactors.
The celebration brought together business leaders, government officials, community representatives, key customers, and industry partners to recognize the importance of advanced manufacturing in St. Marys.
The event included site tours that demonstrated SGL Carbon's advanced manufacturing capabilities and the company's commitment to the growth of key U.S. industries.
Keynote speakers included Andreas Klein, CEO of SGL Carbon; Christian Newton, Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy; Sheila Sterrett, Regional Director for the Northwest in Senator Dave McCormick's office; Mike Armanini, Pennsylvania State Representative; David Briel from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development; Lyle Gardner, Mayor of St. Marys; and Dinkar Bhatia, Chief Commercial Officer of X-energy LLC.
In addition, speaker Cindy Kunes from the office of Congressman Glenn Thompson presented a proclamation from the Congressional Record recognizing SGL Carbon's leadership in the specialty graphite sector, its contributions to the nation's advanced nuclear and semiconductor industries, and its ongoing investments in St. Marys.
