· Issued by Serco Group Plc

Serco, the international provider of critical government services, has been selected, as part of the Southern Renewal Partners consortium, as the asset management and facilities maintenance partner for the Christchurch Men's Prison redevelopment project.

The project, which is being undertaken on behalf of the New Zealand government's Department of Corrections, will include new accommodation, health and support facilities and associated infrastructure.

Over the 25-year post-construction period, Serco will deliver integrated asset management and facilities maintenance services to ensure whole-of-life performance, reliability and asset availability, supporting the Department of Corrections, who retain responsibility for delivering safe custodial and rehabilitative operations.

The project will draw on Serco's extensive local and global experience managing complex, high-security environments and delivering integrated services that support safe operations and provide long-term value for government.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2026 and finish in late-2029, with Serco's team closely involved throughout the build phase.

Anthony Kirby, Serco Group Chief Executive, said:

"We are delighted to play a critical role in this project, which supports the New Zealand Government's need for additional capacity and its objective to deliver safe, resilient and fit-for-purpose infrastructure.

"The project represents Serco's commitment to supporting the New Zealand Government through trusted partnerships, operational excellence and a focus on whole-of-life service delivery.

"We understand the importance and complexity of maintaining operational environments, assets and facilities that support safe prison operations."
