President Ramaphosa visits Sasol Secunda, highlights its contribution to South Africa's industrial capability Date 6 August, 2026 Secunda, South Africa - Sasol today hosted President Cyril Ramaphosa at its Secunda Operations, where he acknowledged the company's role in South Africa's economy, industrial capability and job creation. Led by Sasol President and Chief Executive Officer Simon Baloyi, the visit showcased the scale and integration of the Secunda operations, and its role in supporting energy security, industrial development and economic growth. The visit demonstrated how Secunda's integrated value chain converts carefully managed feedstock into synthesis gas, which is used to produce fuels, chemicals and pipeline gas through Sasol's Fischer-Tropsch conversion technology. Speaking during the visit, President Ramaphosa described Sasol as "a national treasure" and commended its contribution to the economy and employment. "What's also impressive is that they work with many other companies, small and medium enterprises, and they give opportunities to small businesses that do a lot of work here with Sasol. So, as South Africa, we should be really proud of a company like Sasol. It's a job creator and it's a great contributor to our economy," President Ramaphosa said. "Sasol Secunda is a working blueprint for industrial integration, converting natural resources through proprietary technology into products that support mobility, manufacturing, employment and everyday life," said Simon Baloyi, Sasol President and Chief Executive Officer. The day also provided an opportunity to recognise the people, partnerships and technical expertise that keep Sasol Secunda operating at scale and contributing meaningfully to South Africa's development.
