SAN FRANCISCO, CA – September 20, 2022 - Sanwire Corporation (“Sanwire” or the “Company”) (OTC: SNWR), announced today the appointment of Mr. Ronald E. Hughes as chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors. The appoint was effective as of September 15, 2022.
Sanwire Corporation is an Entertainment-Technology Innovator featuring wholly owned subsidiary Intercept Music, Inc. The appointment of Mr. Hughes follows the resignation of Mr. Chris Whitcomb as chief executive officer effective September 15, 2022. Mr. Whitcomb will stay on the board as chairman until a suitable replacement can be found.
Before joining Sanwire, Mr. Hughes was appointed VP of Communication for SMC Entertainment Inc. (OTC: SMCE) in May 2020, then promoted to President in June 2021, subsequently CEO & Chairman of the Board. Mr. Hughes was instrumental in keeping SMCE current with its finances and filings, negotiating the disposition of non-core assets, the introduction of operational excellence and conditioning SMC for new partnerships, mergers, and acquisition transactions. He continues to sit on SMCE’s board of directors and oversees corporate administration.
Mr. Hughes has over 35 years of experience in business development and investment markets. His first entrepreneurial entry into public markets was in 1987, within the music-recording, nightclub, and real estate business in Vancouver, BC. In 1997, Ron joined Global Securities as a licensed investment advisor providing investment analysis, equity trading and capital structure strategy to corporate finance. In 2001, Ron carried on his executive role as CEO & President of TransAmerican Energy Inc., now American Biofuels Inc. (TSX:ABS). He currently serves on the boards of several publicly traded companies in the United States and Canada. Ron has been a partner with North Arm Capital Services, providing Investor Relations and Business Development services to domestic and international clients for more than three decades. Ron studied International Marketing and Management at University of Hawaii (1987), and Resource Economics at the University of Alberta (1986).
