Successful trials result in several opportunities and pilot projects
TORONTO, July 9 /CNW/ - Route1 Inc.(TM) (TSX-V:ROI), the trusted provider of security and identity management network solutions, today announced that recent Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) trials exceeded all expectations, and have led the way for pilots, further testing, and extreme interest in its suite of defense and space products and solutions.
CWID took place June 11 - 22, 2007, across seven government and military sites worldwide. It is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff's annual event enabling US Combatant Commands (COCOMs) and the international community to investigate new and emerging technologies, including command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR) solutions that focus on relevant and timely objectives for enhancing coalition interoperability. US Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM), on behalf of the Chairman, is responsible for the oversight of CWID. The intent of CWID is to investigate C4ISR technologies capable of being placed into an operational environment within 12-18 months following the execution period.
Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford Massachusetts was amongst the 7 CWID sites at which Route1 technology was successfully demonstrated. In addition to trials being performed at Hanscom, role players were deployed to other locations to test and demonstrate various technologies. "If it weren't for MobiKEY IBAD, I would not have been able to accomplish my mission from the European Command in Stuttgart," exclaimed Bob Gee, Hanscom's Lead Engineer. "IBAD saved the day."
Route1's trials focused on two key objectives. The first was Integrated Operations: enhance the commander's capability to command, control and coordinate across joint and coalition forces, government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGO), and first responders with an emphasis on improving mobility, survivability and adaptive dominance. The second was Integrated Planning: provide solutions that improve the COCOM's ability to conduct collaborative planning with coalition partners, including joint and coalition forces, government agencies, NGOs and first responders - emphasizing technologies and processes that support collection and dissemination of Command and Control (C2) information using Net Centric Enterprise Services (NCES). The response to Route1's technology was extremely positive, resulting in post-CWID opportunities and pilot projects, spanning several departments of the military and government.
Featured from the Route1 suite of Defense and Space products were:
- Route1 DEFIMNET(TM) (DEFense Identity Management NETwork) - a service
delivery platform for identity and entitlement management. DEFIMNET
is designed to reside within all levels of classified and
unclassified networks.
- MobiKEY IBAD(TM) (Identity Based Access Device) - provides
warfighters with portable and highly secure access to information and
systems needed in the battlefield from anywhere.
CWID participants also previewed the MobiKEY IBAD-C(TM). A second generation MobiKEY designed to accept a smart card in the ISO 7816 form-factor of the DoD-sanctioned Common Access Card, IBAD-C drew interest at all trial sites.
"CWID enabled Route1 to have our technology evaluated by the warfighters within the realm of military operations - their excitement over IBAD and its applicability is a welcome affirmation of our product strategy," stated Jerry Iwanski, CTO and SVP Product Strategy, Route1. "The successful integration of DEFIMNET into the classified security enclave demonstrated the capability to operate within all security domains. We anxiously await the formal assessment of the trial - due around the October/November timeframe. We believe it will form a foundation for Route1's ability to effectively sell our solutions into DoD's various commands and agencies, as well as Canada's DND and other coalition forces."
An array of tests performed by the DoD's JTIC resulted in a finding of zero vulnerabilities within the DEFIMNET/IBAD infrastructure. The DoD JTIC is an independent operational test and evaluation/assessor of DISA and other DoD Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) acquisitions.
"The Information Assurance Assessment performed by DoD's JTIC reflects Route1's commitment to security and information assurance," continued Iwanski. "It reaffirms Route1's philosophy that access to critical information and C4ISR systems can be provided without negatively impacting the security posture."
