About this update from Pt Perusahaan Gas Negara (persero) Tbk Class B
Jakarta - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) is ramping up efforts to expand access to clean and efficient energy for the public. The company targets an additional 200,000 new household gas network (jargas) connections to reach 1 million household connections by 2025. The expansion will focus on Sumatra and Java, in line with PGN's commitment to supporting the national energy transition. PGN President Director Arief S. Handoko stated that the household gas network program is a strategic solution to provide a more environmentally friendly energy source while helping households save on expenses. "With jargas, households can reduce their dependence on Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) and switch to a more cost-efficient and stable energy source. This program also helps the government save on subsidies by hundreds of billions of rupiah," Arief said in Jakarta (3/2/2025). PGN continues to reaffirm its commitment to developing household gas networks for the benefit of both the public and the nation. As of 2024, the gas network has reached more than 815,000 households, with a total pipeline length of 20,000 km. Moving forward, PGN is ready to take on a collaborative role in expanding the gas network. PGN Finance Director Fadjar Harianto Widodo added that the company has allocated $338 million in capital expenditure for 2025. Approximately 67% of this budget will be directed toward developing natural gas infrastructure, including the jargas program, other strategic infrastructure projects, and advancing low-carbon technologies such as compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). PGN aims to increase gas distribution volume by 12% in 2025, driven by rising demand from key industrial areas in Sumatra and Java. Additionally, 33% of the capex will be allocated to upstream development, including exploration in the Pangkah, Ketapang, and Fasken working areas (WK), as well as the proposed extension of the Muara Bakau working area contract.
