Posco Future M to supply battery materials to Japanese battery firm

Posco Future M Co. (Gyeongsang, South Korea) has signed a contract to supply natural graphite anode materials produced at its Sejong, South Korea, site for use in electric vehicle (EV) batteries manufactured in Japan, as per Chemweek.Posco did not disclose the name of the customer or other details, quoting a confidentiality agreement.The company said to respond to supply chain diversification and trade regulations in each country, including the US and the EU, Posco Future M has been working with the Posco Group to secure an independent supply chain from raw materials to the entire material production process.It said for natural graphite anode materials, the company “is pursuing raw material internalization by securing graphite ore from countries other than China, including Africa, and domestically producing spherical graphite, an intermediate material. For artificial graphite anode materials, the company has secured supply chain competitiveness by manufacturing graphite raw materials by processing coke produced at Posco’s domestic steel mills,” it added.mrchub.com
