Polish medical laboratory operator Diagnostyka GPW:DIA on Thursday reported an over 13% rise in first-quarter net profit, driven mainly by higher average prices for diagnostic services.Krakow-based Diagnostyka, which operates 155 laboratories and 1,200 blood collection points across Poland, spent 31.9 million zlotys ($8.8 million) on first-quarter acquisitions, completing 11 deals this year.The average price of diagnostic services jumped 16.5% year-on-year, with diagnostic imaging prices rising 29.4% and laboratory test prices rising 9.7%Price increases were driven by a shift toward higher-value MRI and CT scans, as well as upward adjustments to private retail prices to offset cost inflationThe company's total volume of tests performed grew 1.2% year-on-year to 45.8 million in the first quarterTest volumes were hit by severe winter weather in January and February, which reduced patient foot trafficVolume growth was also limited by the expiration of a state-subsidized health program, which had boosted patient numbers during the first quarter of 2025The company said in April it would limit acquisitions of publicly funded imaging firms in 2026 due to regulatory changes, but still planned to spend between 50 million and 100 million zlotys on mergers and acquisitions($1 = 3.6283 zlotys)
