New Sources launches Green Finance Framework
Amsterdam, 1 July 2025 - New Sources Energy N.V. (New Sources or the Company) has established a Green Finance Framework (the Framework) to further integrate the Company's sustainability ambitions into its financing. The Framework supports the execution of the Company's strategy to develop renewable energy production and energy efficiency projects to accelerate the energy transition.
The Green Finance Framework allows New Sources to raise capital via green bonds and loans to finance renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. Projects financed by green debt may include fixed assets, capital expenditures and/or operational expenditures, including R&D expenditures. In addition, the Green Finance Framework is fully compliant with the EU Taxonomy criteria on sustainable economic activities. This regulation defines which economic activity can be classified as environmentally sustainable and therefore sets a Pan-European standard for sustainable investment.
"With our new Green Finance Framework, we are strengthening our position in the market for green financing instruments and thus the sustainable development of our Company's projects. At New Sources we want to accelerate the clean energy transition by developing and owning clean energy resources of the future. The Framework will enable us to allocate capital to projects that are needed to deliver renewable energy, as well as investments in energy efficiency that drive decarbonisation and reduce emissions", said Leonard Vereecken, CEO of New Sources.
New Sources' Green Finance Framework has been reviewed by leading provider of sustainable investment research, ratings and data, Morningstar Sustainalytics in their Second Party Opinion (SPO). Morningstar has confirmed the Framework's alignment with the International Capital Market Association's (ICMA) Green Bond Principles 2021, and the Green Loan Principles 2023 administered by the Loan Market Association (LMA), the Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA) and the Loan Syndications and Trading Association (LSTA). Furthermore, the Framework follows the recommendations of the latest proposed EU Green Bond Standard, on a best effort basis.
