The three-year contract will cover three of its sites, including Quay House, the flagship regional hub in Peterborough and two Grade II listed buildings at 3-8 and 55 Whitehall in Westminster. Mitie's engineers will deliver predictive mechanical and engineering maintenance to monitor equipment, such as heating, ventilation and air condition (HVAC) systems, staying ahead of any issues to reduce disruption and extend the life of equipment. Supporting the GPA's ambition to deliver workplaces that are safe, resilient and meet the needs of a modern workforce, Mitie will also provide specialist compliance services, including water hygiene, electrical testing, and fire and security systems testing so that safe operations continue across both regional hubs and central government locations. This will support the safety and wellbeing of occupants from seven Government departments, including the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), Great British Nuclear, and His Majesty's Passport Office. The contract will see colleagues transfer to Mitie under TUPE, alongside the creation of new full-time engineer roles, 12 work placements in facilities management at Quay House for young people facing barriers to employment and an advanced NVQ Level 3 Leadership apprenticeship for colleagues at the Whitehall sites. As part of Mitie's 'Plan Thrive' commitment to uplift 1 million people and 1,000 places, 120 volunteering hours will be dedicated to supporting careers fairs, forging pathways into future opportunities within facilities management, and the use of local specialist suppliers to help boost local economies. Andrew Rawdon, Managing Director, Central Government, Mitie, said: "Working closely with the Government Property Agency, Mitie's engineers will bring extensive expertise to help keep Quay House running and balance the contemporary needs of a modern workforce with the historic architecture of the Whitehall buildings.
