Assurance Statement: carbon footprint of Metall Zug AG 2024
Swiss Climate was commissioned by Metall Zug AG (hereinafter called Metall Zug) to provide assurance on its 2024 carbon footprint data (Scope 1, 2 and 3) as well as the calculations for the retirement of CO2 certificates.
INTENDED USERS
The intended users of this assurance statement are the management and stakeholders of Metall Zug.
Metall Zug, with its headquarters at Industriestrasse 66, 6302 Zug, is a group of industrial companies comprising the Business Units Medical Devices, Technologycluster & Infrastructure and Investments & Corporate.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF METALL ZUG AND OF THE ASSURANCE PROVIDER
The management of Metall Zug has sole responsibility for the preparation and content of its carbon footprint and for the development and maintenance of its carbon management system, including the calculation of the reported carbon footprint.
This assurance statement represents Swiss Climate's independent and balanced opinion on the content and accuracy of the information resulting in the carbon footprint and environmental data held within.
ASSURANCE STANDARDS AND LEVEL OF ASSURANCE
Swiss Climate undertook the assurance in accordance with AA1000 Assurance Standard (AA1000AS v3) Type 2 moderate-levelassurance, covering:
- the evaluation of adherence to the AA1000 Principles of Inclusivity, Materiality, Responsiveness, and Impact (the Principles); and
- the reliability of carbon footprint data from Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions sources.
- the calculations for the retirement of CO2 certificates.
The information on which the carbon footprint is based has been selected based on the materiality determination and is meaningful to the intended users of the assurance statement. In addition, Swiss Climate used The Greenhouse Gas Protocol: A Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (Revised Edition, 2004) to evaluates Metall Zug's specified carbon footprint performance data and its adherence to the AA1000 Principles. Important criteria mentioned by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol considered during this assurance process are relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency and accuracy.

CARBON FOOTPRINT: SCOPE, LIMITATIONS AND PROCESSES
Swiss Climate was commissioned to assure the carbon emissions data relating to Metall Zug's Greenhouse Gas accounting 2024.
Data period: The carbon emissions data cover the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024.
Organisational boundaries: Metall Zug took an operational control approach (GHG Protocol) to define the organisational boundaries. The organisational boundaries include all sites of the following Business Units:
- Medical Devices (Haag-Streit Group)
- Technologycluster & Infrastructure (Tech Cluster Zug AG, Urban Assets Zug AG)
- Investments & Corporate (Gehrig Group AG, Metall Zug AG)
Operational boundaries: Metall Zug considers Scope 1, 2 and 3 as part of the operational boundaries. More precisely, Metall Zug considers Scope 1 and 2 emissions from their operation of offices (heating, cooling and electricity), production sites and company cars. For Scope 3, only emissions from business travels (business flights, category 6) were considered.
Limitations: Metall Zug focuses in Scope 3.6 on business flights.
Process of activity data collection: The consumption and emissions data are collected annually under the responsibility of designated data collectors. The corporate sustainability responsible at the headquarter in Switzerland conducts plausibility checks.
Calculation of emissions: The total CO2e emissions are reported based on activity data multiplied by the corresponding emission factors.
Carbon Footprint: Swiss Climate has verified the following greenhouse gas emissions for the year 2024:
t CO2e | |||
Scope 1, Total | 1'785 | ||
Scope 2 | (location-based), Total | 1'060
Scope 2 | (market-based), Total | 354
Scope 3, Business Flights | 879
Total Scope 1 + Scope 2 | (location-based) + Scope 3 | 3'724
Total Scope 1 + Scope 2 | (market-based) + Scope 3 | 3'018

DESCRIPTION OF ASSURANCE METHODOLOGY
Swiss Climate's assurance methodology included the following activities:
- Virtual meeting with Metall Zug on 19 February 2025, including:
- Verification of activity data accuracy, audit of standards, operational and organisational bounda- ries, data quality, methodologies, conversion factors and calculations used;
- Review of responsibilities, processes and systems used to gather and consolidate carbon footprint data;
- Discussion of specific greenhouse gas emissions and emission factors in Scope 1, 2 and 3; and o Verification of the calculations for the retirement of CO2 certificates.
- Desk review of the carbon footprint calculation files as well as the calculation files for the retirement of CO2-certificates and associated documentation; and
- Internal quality process.

tionally, Metall Zug has regular exchanges with their customers and sup-

Materiality: Decision makers should identify and be clear about the sustainability topics that matter
Metall Zug evaluates the relevance and significance of climate change to the company (e.g. risks and opportunities evaluation) and its stakeholders according to the TCFD recommendations and publishes the information in its annual report. Sustainability was identified as material, with focus topics on "climate & resources", "employees", "product & services", and "society & value creation".
Responsiveness: Organisations | Metall Zug, in order to respond to stakeholder interests, shows a commit- |

Nothing came to Swiss Climate's attention to suggest that Metall Zug's carbon management and carbon footprint does not adhere to the AA1000 Principles of Inclusivity, Materiality, Responsiveness and Impact.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS CONCERNING THE RELIABILITY OF THE CARBON FOOTPRINT
Swiss Climate planned and performed its work to obtain the information, explanations and evidence considered necessary to provide a moderate-level assurance that the carbon footprint emissions for the period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024 are fairly stated.
Swiss Climate did not find evidence to insinuate that the processes and systems in place to collect the data and to calculate the carbon footprint are such that the company's carbon management performance would be erroneously described, and that the carbon footprint would not fulfil the criteria of relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency and accuracy.
