Ko: "Minasama, konnichiwa. Thomas Ko desu."
Thank you for joining our financial results conference despite your busy schedules. Let me begin by reporting the highlights of our full year results for 2025.
System-wide sales reached a record high of 888.6 billion yen. Same-store sales continued to grow positively for 41 consecutive quarters, maintaining over 10 years of quarterly growth.
We believe this achievement reflects our ongoing efforts to enhance the customer experience-listening to customer feedback, improving QSC and convenience, and actively investing in marketing, restaurants, and our people. These efforts have been well received by an increasing number of customers.
We believe that our Medium-term Management Plan got off to a strong start last year. Throughout the year, we served increased customers compared to the previous year, and we successfully opened 120 new locations, ensuring a steady progress of restaurant renewal. Despite the headwinds, we have steadily improved our performance while consistently implementing initiatives aimed at achieving mid-to long-term growth.
These achievements are the result of the dedication and efforts of everyone who supports McDonald's-including our Owner-Operators, suppliers, restaurant managers, restaurant staff, crew members, and all those involved in the McDonald's system and I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you.
Now, Mandai-san will brief you on the details of our financial results for fiscal year 2025.
Mandai: Nice to meet you all.
My name is Mandai, and since September of last year, I have been serving as CFO, overseeing the Finance and Strategy & Insights Division.
Here is the summary of our business performance for the year 2025.
Both system-wide sales and operating income exceeded the previous year's results as well as our forecasts.
System-wide sales reached 888.6 billion yen, a 7.2% increase year-on-year, while same-store sales rose by 5.7% compared to the previous year.
Operating income was 53.2 billion yen, up 10.9% from the previous year and operating income margin also improved by 1.0 points.
Our growth strategies have clearly contributed to overall sales growth and improved profitability, which is reflected in these results.
In addition, both system-wide sales and operating income exceeded our forecast by 1.0% and 4.4% respectively. Other figures are as shown here.
This slide illustrates the factors behind the changes in system-wide sales.
The graph on the left shows that in addition to increased sales from existing restaurants, the impact of restaurant replacement involving strategic opening and closing of restaurants has also contributed to system-wide sales.
The number of customer visits has increased after replacing small-footprint locations with higher-capacity layouts.
The graph on the right shows the year-on-year changes in sales and customer numbers at existing restaurants. Both sales and the number of customers continued to outperform the previous year's results throughout the year.
This demonstrates that our ongoing efforts to enhance the restaurant experience are being well received by our customers, leading to more visits and increased usage of our restaurants.
The steady growth of existing restaurants and increased sales through restaurant replacements indicate steady strengthening of McDonald's business platform.
