AmInvestment Bank sees a two-stage earnings recovery in Malaysian oil and gas sector. Analyst Aimi Nasuha Md Nazri expects near-term gains to be driven by higher Brent crude prices and stronger energy shipping and storage demand. This, she says, will be followed by a broader recovery among oil and gas service providers as industry activity rebuilds through 2027-2028. Oil markets may remain tight despite the U.S.-Iran interim peace deal, as supply disruptions and reduced output continue to outweigh softer demand, supporting prices through 2Q-3Q, she says. AmInvestment Bank raises the Malaysian oil and gas sector's rating to overweight from neutral, and pegs Hibiscus Petroleum, MISC, Dayang Enterprise, Keyfield International and Deleum as its top picks.(yingxian.wong@wsj.com)
