As Maybank transitions into its next strategic phase under ROAR30, it carries forward reinforced values, anchored on purpose, integrity and impact, into every action and decision - to serve customers, communities and economies across ASEAN and beyond. Social Impact remains a key differentiator for Maybank with an added focus on raising the floor and raising the ceiling - centered on improving lives and enabling a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.

In FY2025 alone, Maybank's social impact uplifted 1.49 million lives, mobilising RM29.41 billion in social investments. This was premised by the two-pronged approach to social impact spearheaded by Social Financing and Social Empowerment initiatives introduced last year.

From FY2014 to FY2025, Maybank has uplifted 5.76 million lives and mobilised RM76.02 billion in social impact investment cumulatively.

Comments from Maybank Chairman and President & Group CEO

Tan Sri Dato' Sri Ir. Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, Chairman of Maybank said "Maybank's legacy will not be defined solely by profits, but by the values we uphold and the lives we transform. Since our inception in 1960, we have supported our customers and communities through inclusive financial solutions and transparent investments. Our ambition is clear which is to establish Maybank as a regional intermediary for good, positively contributing towards the social impact ecosystem."

Dato' Sri Khairussaleh Ramli, President & Group Chief Executive Office of Maybank said "Staying true to our mission of Humanising Financial Services, we firmly believe that finance has its greatest value when it creates positive changes in people's lives. Under ROAR30, we will continue to drive social impact as it is a key differentiator for the Group by ensuring greater accessibility for the underserved and unserved segments. We would also like to thank our stakeholders, including our partners, Maybankers, and most importantly our beneficiaries for giving us the opportunity to make a real difference in this journey."

Social Financing initiatives

Under Social Financing, Maybank has served over 490,000 customers across ASEAN in FY2025 by providing affordable financing solutions and facilities for the lower income segments of society including individuals and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This includes disbursement of affordable and accessible mortgages and automobile financing and insurance offerings to the tune of over RM29.33 billion for the same period.

  • 93 billion in affordable financing mobilised to close to 180,000 individuals (includes home, auto financing and repayment assistance)
  • 30 billion in affordable financing disbursed to over 14,000 MSMEs (includes various MSME financing and repayment assistance)
  • RM102 million in affordable insurance provided via Etiqa supporting close to 300,000 individuals (includes life, health and personal accident coverage)

Cumulatively from FY2014 - FY2025, Maybank has supported 2.36 million customers, and disbursed RM75.57 billion in social financing.

Social Empowerment initiatives

On the Social Empowerment front, Maybank strengthened its focus on capacity building and skills development under three key pillars of Education, Community, and Environment. It covers scholarships, tuition and bursaries, financial literary, entrepreneurship and vocational skills, sustainability and environment conservation that impacted numerous beneficiary segments.

In FY2025, via 110 ongoing Social Empowerment initiatives, Maybank supported close to 1 million beneficiaries and mobilised more than RM77 million.

From FY2014 - FY2025, Maybank's Social Empowerment initiatives touched 3.40 million lives, mobilising RM446.78 million in investment.

Education - over 500,000 Students and Youth (scholarships, financial literacy, tuition and bursaries)

Education remains a cornerstone of Maybank's social impact agenda. In 2025, over 500,000 students and youth were supported, with the Bank mobilising more than RM26 million for education initiatives.

Maybank continues to support the next generation of leaders through flagship programmes such as the ASEAN-Maybank Scholarship (AMS) and Maybank Group Scholarship Programme (MGSP). In 2025, Maybank awarded 73 new scholarships under these programmes aiding scholars to complete their higher education.

In instilling the right financial habits among school children, CashVille Kidz (CVK) currently present in eight countries across ASEAN enrolled over 60,000 students in FY2025. The programme saw commendable results with 62% of the beneficiary recording increases between their pre- and post-assessment scores, demonstrating the positive learning outcomes from this programme.

The newly rebranded MARK programme aims to holistically inspire interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) subjects among students in rural areas. In 2025 alone, 1,400 students in eight rural districts of Malaysia participated in this programme.

Community - 379,748 marginalised community members, 29,180 women, and 9,951 Persons with Disabilities (entrepreneurship trainings, welfare aid and financial inclusion)

In 2025, over 400,000 beneficiaries received aid, with the Bank mobilising more than RM49 million for community related initiatives.

Reach Independence & Sustainable Entrepreneurship (R.I.S.E.) and Maybank Women Eco- Weavers (MWEW) programmes continue to enable individuals in marginalised communities to build their financial resilience through sustainable livelihoods.

In 2025, R.I.S.E. celebrated a decade of impact where YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, personally presented the Top Impact Award to five regional participants. On furthering the programme's footprint, Maybank officially launched R.I.S.E. in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The Maybank Women Eco-Weavers programme, an initiative by Maybank Foundation that promotes traditional textiles globally in a sustainable manner while fostering economic independence and financial inclusion for women weavers across the ASEAN region.

The MWEW programme expanded to its fifth country with the opening of its first training centre in the Philippines. In 2025, MWEW benefitted 963 individuals which consisted of traditional weaving and farming community members.

Meanwhile, the eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN (eYAA) programme concluded its fifth cohort, mobilising 100 youths into 10 projects, benefiting communities in six countries across ASEAN. This included the first project in Vietnam which saw youth volunteers establish a computer lab for primary school students in the remote province of Ngh An.

Through the Matching Grant support announced under Belanjawan 2025, Maybank Foundation was able to further expand the reach of its Social Empowerment programmes in Malaysia. Under this initiative, Maybank Foundation mobilised over RM5.5 million, which benefited 16,800 beneficiaries. With the matching grant from the Ministry of Finance of up to RM5 million, the Foundation was able to reach another 13,500 beneficiaries, collectively impacting over 30,300 lives.

Environment - Planet (sustainability and environment conservation)

In support of the environment, Maybank actively contributes towards the conservation of the critically endangered Malayan tiger, whose wild population is estimated at fewer than 150. In collaboration with WWF Malaysia, the Bank supported efforts to monitor and protect this majestic species, with more than 100,000 KM of dense forest patrolled aimed at strengthening the ecosystem's wellbeing of the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex, Malaysia.

At the heart of driving these pillars is Maybank Foundation, which is the Group's social impact arm. It is an accredited entity with ASEAN, the first and only financial institution to achieve this since the establishment of ASEAN. Through its programmes, Maybank Foundation invested RM37.66 million, supporting over 105,000 lives in FY2025.

Maybank also champions Social Empowerment efforts via its zakat contributions from Maybank Islamic and Etiqa. In FY2025, RM30.97 million was mobilised for bursaries, entrepreneurial programmes and community-led initiatives, collectively uplifting close to 120,000 lives.

As Maybank embarks on its next strategic chapter under ROAR30, social impact will remain a central pillar of its purpose-driven journey. Through strong partnerships, innovative financial solutions and sustained community investment, Maybank is committed to shaping a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable ASEAN, where growth is shared and progress uplifts all.
