Lotte Chemical begins commissioning at Indonesia cracker

By Mohi Narayan Lotte Chemical KRX:011170 has completed construction of its $3.95 billion petrochemical plant at Cilegon, in Indonesia's Banten province, and will enter the start up phase this week, the company said in a letter to the local government, seen by Reuters."The start-up activities are scheduled to take place from May 20 for approximately one week during which gas flaring will be conducted," the company said in the letter.The company plans to start operations at the cracker in the second half of 2025, an executive at Lotte's Malaysia affiliate said on May 16.
