Live Nation acquires control of Buenos Aires' Movistar Arena in Latin America venue push

· Issued by Live Nation Entertainment, Inc.

Live Nation Entertainment has acquired a majority stake in Movistar Arena Buenos Aires, strengthening the US-based company’s position across Argentina’s live entertainment industry and extending a strategy of vertical integration that already includes concert promotion, venue management and artist development across the country and Latin America, Ámbito reported.

The transaction gives Live Nation control of one of Argentina’s most important indoor venues while Grupo La Nación, previously the majority owner, remains involved as a minority shareholder. Financial details of the operation were not disclosed.

The deal marks one of the most significant shifts in Argentina’s entertainment landscape in recent years and expands Live Nation’s influence over several stages of the live events business. The company has steadily increased its local presence through acquisitions and long-term agreements involving concert production, venue operations and commercial rights.

Since opening in 2019, Movistar Arena has become one of the busiest indoor venues in Latin America. With capacity for 15,000 spectators, the arena hosts more than 250 events annually and receives around 2.5 mn attendees each year, attracting both international touring acts and leading Argentine performers.

The acquisition also reinforces Live Nation’s broader regional strategy focused on controlling key concert infrastructure. In late 2025, the company purchased a majority stake in Movistar Arena Santiago in Chile, another 15,000-capacity venue that stages more than 170 shows annually. Together, the two assets give the company direct exposure to two of South America’s most active concert markets.

Live Nation said the existing management team at Movistar Arena Buenos Aires will continue overseeing daily operations and that the venue will remain available to third-party promoters rather than functioning exclusively as a company-controlled performance space.

“The Movistar Arena Buenos Aires is one of the most important venues in Latin America,” said Michael Rapino, president and chief executive officer of Live Nation.

Gabriel Dantur, chief executive of the Buenos Aires venue, said the investment reflected the strength of the business built over recent years and would support further improvements for artists, promoters and audiences.

The transaction adds to a series of recent moves by Live Nation in Argentina. Earlier this month, the company announced the acquisition of a majority position in Dale Play Live, the live events business linked to the development of artists including Duki, Bizarrap, Emilia and Nicki Nicole.

Its expansion in the country began in 2018 through the purchase of a controlling interest in DF Entertainment, the promoter behind major events including Lollapalooza Argentina. More recently, Live Nation and DF Entertainment reached a long-term agreement to operate the Luna Park venue after its planned reopening in 2027.

At the beginning of this year, Live Nation, DF Entertainment and Dale Play also signed a 10-year agreement to manage concerts and commercial rights associated with River Plate’s Más Monumental stadium. Market estimates valued that arrangement at approximately $110 mn.

The latest acquisition highlights a broader global industry trend in which major entertainment groups seek greater control over the entire value chain, from talent and show production to venues and ticketing.

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Live Nation organises more than 50,000 events annually across approximately 50 countries and also owns Ticketmaster, one of the world’s largest ticketing platforms.

Its Latin American expansion extends beyond Argentina. In Mexico, the company increased its stake in OCESA to 75% in 2025 through a transaction valued at $646mn, further consolidating its regional presence.

With stakes in major venues, partnerships with leading promoters and agreements covering some of Argentina’s most recognised stages, Live Nation has emerged as one of the most influential players in the country’s live entertainment ecosystem.
