Kier has completed a new multi-million pound, two-storey specialist facility for King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) in Farnborough.
The Endoscopy and Diagnostic Centre officially opened on Monday 22 June 2026, bringing vital health services to the south of London. Kier's regional director for London and Thames Valley, John Bolton, joined guests including Sir Jim Mackey, chief executive officer at NHS England, the Trust's chief executive, Professor Clive Kay, Gareth Bacon, MP for Orpington, PRUH staff teams and local stakeholders at the official opening.
The new, purpose-built facility at the PRUH will enable staff to meet the growing demand for endoscopy services, supporting quicker diagnosis and treatment for up to 4,500 additional cancer patients each year.
The unit - which treated its first patient in April this year - features six procedure rooms, six consulting rooms, a dedicated decontamination suite, as well as separate male and female recovery areas. The 2,400m² building has been designed to maximise patient comfort, whilst providing state-of-the-art training and classroom facilities for staff.
John Bolton, regional director for Kier Construction London & Thames Valley said:
Professor Clive Kay, chief executive of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, of which the PRUH is part, said:
Kier is a leading provider of healthcare facilities for NHS Trusts, recently completing a £98m transformation programme at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, and a £28.5m diagnostic centre at Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea.
