Trading Symbol: JSP (TSX-V) CALGARY, June 21 /CNW/ - Jasper Mining Corporation (the "Company") is pleased to announce commencement of its 2006 exploration program on its 100% owned Isintok property. The Isintok property consists of 21 separate mineral tenures, comprising approximately 2,789 hectares (6,893 acres), located approximately 25 km west-southwest of Summerland, BC and 20 km north of Hedley. Compilation of available data from previous programs (see Press Release dated March 15, 2006) have documented weakly to relatively strongly anomalous copper +/- molybdenum results in both soil and (diamond and percussion) drill data over a considerable area underlain by the current mineral tenures. The ongoing objective of the Company is to locate, and define, a copper- molybdenum +/- gold, porphyry-style deposit similar to the Brenda Mine, located approximately 40 km north of the property. "The Brenda mine began production in early 1970 with measured geological (proven) reserves of 160,556,700 tonnes grading 0.183 percent copper and 0.049% molybdenum at a cutoff of 0.3 per cent copper equivalent (eCu (equal sign) %Cu + (3.45% Mo)" (BC MINFILE 092HNE047) (Note: reported prior to implementation of, and therefore not compliant with, National Instrument 43-101). The Company model is, therefore, copper + molybdenum +/- gold porphyry-style mineralization grading a minimum of 1830 ppm copper and 490 ppm molybdenum. The Company has mobilized a diamond drill onto, and contracted an airborne geophysical survey of, the property to commence the 2006 exploration program. Diamond drilling (contracted to F.B. Drilling of Cranbrook, BC) has commenced with 247 feet of NQ core recovered to date. A total of 6 pads, with up to 3 holes per pad, have been permitted to test a possible mineralized annulus, interpreted from a review of previous drill results (see Press Release dated March 15, 2006) and the 2005 Fugro Airborne Surveys geophysical survey (see Press Release dated February 17, 2006). Coincident geophysical anomalies, comprised of a relatively well developed resistivity high (conductivity low) and a magnetic high, appear to correlate with anomalous copper +/- molybdenum mineralization previously documented in previous drill programs. The Company intends to test this interpretation through the proposed diamond drill program. Results will be released as received. An airborne geophysical survey has been contracted to Fugro Airborne Surveys to cover the additional mineral tenures recently acquired around the core tenures of the property (see Press Release dated April 24, 2006). The survey will be comprised of three components, specifically, electromagnetics, magnetics and radiometrics, similar to the survey initially completed. The Electromagnetic portion of the survey is intended to identify and delineate possible conductors, which may include faults, mineralized veins and/or porphyry-style mineralization. Magnetics may allow differentiation of separate intrusive phases within the larger Bromley Batholith and, therefore, allow possible determination of at least one possible control to mineralization. Finally, the radiometric portion of the survey detects the response of three radioactive elements, specifically, potassium, thorium and uranium. Again, radiometrics may allow the Company to differentiate separate intrusive phases. The resulting data will be levelled and processed with the previously acquired (2005) data so as to provide comparable data over the entirety of the property. In this way, resulting anomalies are expected to be based on the data itself and not possible artifacts due to "edge effects" between surveys. The survey is expected to commence this week, with preliminary data received shortly afterward and a final report in 6 to 8 weeks. This press release has been prepared by Richard T. Walker, B.Sc., M.Sc., P. Geo., the "Qualified Person" under National Instrument 43-101.
