Izertis joins WE BUILD consortium for the second round of large-scale pilots for the EU Digital Identity Wallet
WE BUILD, the wallet ecosystem consortium for business and payments use cases on identification, legal representation and data sharing, has been selected by the European Commission to participate in the second round of large-scale pilots for the EU Digital Identity Wallet. WE BUILD is scheduled to start operations in September 2025, with a duration of 24 months.
One of the companies that will be part of this consortium is Izertis, whose Identfy digital wallet was the first Spanish open source wallet approved by the Commission. It is a digital identity solution, decentralised and self-managed, aligned with not only Spanish and European, but also global standards and initiatives, and which responds to the multiple challenges of today's hyper- connected life in which the user's ability to preserve their privacy is put to the test, while responding to their need for autonomy to manage identification processes.
Strengthening competitiveness
The European Commission now recognises that Europe needs to strengthen its competitiveness and that innovation, digitalisation and support for organisations such as businesses are key factors. "Digital identity is one of the fundamental building blocks to address this. WE BUILD will support this objective by devoting considerable effort to strengthening the European Digital Identity Portfolio ecosystem, through a use case-based approach.
Thirteen use caseswill be tested, specifically in the areas of business and payments, with the aim of making life easier for both businesses and individuals. WE BUILD focuses on use cases with a high level of occurrence and high impact on the digital economy. The consortium thus intends to

contribute significantly to the Commission's plans related to EUDI wallets and organisation/company wallets in particular.
With nearly 200 partners (Member States, public and private sector), WE BUILD has the breadth, depth and power to make a significant impact. With the participation of 13 European companies, the consortium also has a solid foundation to focus on digital identity and data exchange in business-related use cases. The public entities in the consortium will ensure that various interactions between companies and public administrations can be tested using EUDI Wallets. The use cases will also demonstrate the benefits that these business wallets bring to banking and payment services, including interactions with consumers.
To this end, WE BUILD will take stock and build on lessons learned and other results from the first round of large-scale pilots of the EU Digital Identity Portfolio, of which Izertiswas also a part, in order to get closer to production and show ways to represent organisations with a portfolio through powers of attorney, signing rights and UBO attestations.
The private sector consortium partners in WE BUILD will test EUDI wallets in various B2B, B2G or B2C interactions and assess the benefits in terms of engagement, trust, efficiency and feasibility.
