Resolute Mining (ASX/LSE:RSG) has secured a mining permit for the Doropo Gold Project from the Council of Ministers in Côte d'Ivoire, clearing the final governmental hurdle before development.
The permit, valid for 14 years with potential extensions, represents the last key approval required for the company to move ahead with construction and future operations. An official presidential decree is expected in the coming weeks to formalise the award.
Doropo is located in the Bounkani Region in northeastern Côte d’Ivoire, about 480km from Abidjan and close to the Burkina Faso border. The 400km² permit area includes several defined gold deposits as well as additional mineralised trends identified through drilling.
The project also hosts multiple untested soil geochemical anomalies and geophysical targets, offering further exploration upside beyond the currently defined resource base.
Doropo forms a central pillar of Resolute’s strategy to lift group gold production to more than 500,000oz a year by the end of 2028, strengthening its position as a multi-asset West African producer.
The award of the permit paves the way for a final investment decision, which the company expects to make shortly. Resolute plans to use existing financial resources to advance the project into construction in the first half of 2026, with first gold targeted for the first half of 2028.
Managing Director and CEO Chris Eger said the permit marked “a significant milestone” and reflected strong support from government and local stakeholders. He added that a recent definitive feasibility study outlined a post-tax project net present value (NPV5%, 100% basis) of $2.5bn at a gold price assumption of $4,000/oz.
Eger said the addition of Doropo would be a key contributor to Resolute’s production growth plans and diversification across multiple assets and jurisdictions in Africa.
