Credit Agricole EURONEXT:ACA may accept governance restrictions tied to a potential merger between its Italian unit and Banco BPM MIL:BAMI, Italy's third-largest bank, to secure political approval for the deal, La Stampa reported on Thursday. The French lender's main focus is to boost revenues through the deal, the paper added.
Italy's third-largest bank has submitted an expression of interest in acquiring a stake in Cassa di Risparmio di Asti, of which it already owns 9.9%, Corriere della Sera and MF said on Thursday. Banco BPM declined to comment, Corriere reported.
