Italy's second-largest bank may consider a bancassurance agreement with Unipol MIL:UNI, financial daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported on Tuesday. The report highlighted that BPER Banca MIL:BPE, Italy's fourth-largest bank where Unipol is the largest shareholder, and its subsidiary Banca Popolare di Sondrio MIL:BPSO operate in regions deemed strategically significant for UniCredit.

Alessandro Varaldo, CEO of Banco BPM's private bank Banca Aletti, is the leading candidate to become CEO of the Italian asset manager, Il Messaggero reported on Tuesday. Separately, several newspapers have pointed to Pierluigi Giverso, Anima's joint general manager and chief business officer, as another contender for the CEO position.
