COMPANIES BANKS Italy has sent the EU its response to the letter of formal notice through which the European Commission last November challenged the way Rome used golden power rules to vet bank mergers, officials said. In its response, Rome says that it has amended the golden power legislation by stating that the government should wait for EU decisions on "prudential and competition" issues before invoking vetting powers in deals involving banks and insurance companies. BANCO BPM MIL:BAMI Credit Agricole EURONEXT:ACA has crossed a 20% ownership threshold, having raising its stake in the Italian lender to 20.1% as of January 16, according to a filing released on Wednesday. (*) ENI MIL:ENI The Italian major said on Thursday it had signed a deal with Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR for the sale of a 10% stake in the Ivory Coast's Baleine project. (*) LEONARDO MIL:LDO Britain handed military contractors including BAE Systems LSE:BA. and the Italian defence and aerospace group a 453 million pound ($608 million) contract to upgrade radar systems on Typhoon fighter jets. (*) MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA MIL:BMPS The European Central Bank is expected to give its opinion on changes to bylaws and regulations on the slate for board renewal by February 4, when the Tuscan bank is set to hold an extraordinary shareholders meeting, la Repubblica daily reported on Thursday. (*) STELLANTIS MIL:STLAM Workers at the automaker's Tychy plant in Poland have filed a class-action lawsuit against the decision to scrap the third production shift, leading to job cuts, Italian daily MF reported on Thursday. (*) BANCO DESIO MIL:BDB The Italian bank said on Wednesday the Bank of Italy had set its CET 1 ratio at 7.80% with a 5.30% binding measure and TIER 1 ratio at 9.60% with a 7.10% binding measure. (*) TIM MIL:TIT Telecom Italia's (TIM) unit TIM Brasil said on Thursday it has approved a new strategic agreement with American Tower do Brasil. (*) JUVENTUS MIL:JUVE The Italian soccer team guaranteed themselves at least a Champions League playoff place with a 2-0 home win over Benfica on Wednesday. HERA MIL:HER The Italian regional utility said in its new industrial plan on Wednesday it is aiming to increase core profit to 1.76 billion euros ($2.06 billion) by 2029. It also announced 2025 earnings slightly below expectations, sending its shares down. NEXI MIL:NEXI The Italian payments group will present its new business plan and full-year 2025 results on March 5, it said on Wednesday.
