Greenergy Philippines approves $1.7mn loan to fuel Winsun’s expansion

· Issued by Greenergy Holdings Incorporated

Greenergy Holdings Inc., a sustainability-focused investment firm in the Philippines, has approved a loan worth PHP100mn (roughly $1.7mn) for its wholly owned subsidiary, Winsun Green Ventures Inc, according to Power Philippines. The decision was made during a board meeting held on June 27, aimed at bolstering Winsun’s operations and planned growth.

Winsun, which was founded in 2012, serves as Greenergy’s main platform for renewable energy ventures. Its portfolio includes solar energy projects and sustainable housing developments. The company has previously secured permissions from local authorities to implement solar initiatives in Caloocan City and has partnered on solar installations in Bacolod City.

According to Greenergy’s submission to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the loan will be used to fund current projects and future expansion plans. Although the board has greenlit the financing, the specific loan conditions such as interest rates, repayment timelines and collateral arrangements remain under discussion by the Management Committee.

Greenergy’s broader strategy includes investments in renewable energy, eco-friendly infrastructure and agribusiness through subsidiaries like Winsun, Sunchamp and Yakuru. The group aims to develop projects that deliver environmental impact alongside community value.

While the $1.7mn loan offers a short-term cushion for Winsun, it also raises questions about scale and execution. In the rapidly evolving clean energy space, meaningful growth requires more than capital. What matters next is how efficiently Winsun can turn this support into scalable, measurable progress.
