GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) has secured an order from Powerica Limited to supply wind turbines for a 100-MW wind power project in Gujarat , marking the first deployment of the company's 3.8 MW-154m onshore wind turbine platform in the Indian market, the company said in a press release dated June 4 . Under the agreement, GE Vernova will supply and install 28 turbines for the Botad Wind Farm , further expanding a partnership between the two companies that has already resulted in the development of four wind projects. Powerica won the project's power purchase agreement through a competitive auction conducted by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). Deliveries for the project are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026. The announcement comes shortly after GE Vernova received certification from India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and was added to the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), a prerequisite for turbine manufacturers seeking to participate in India's wind energy market. The turbines for the Botad project will be manufactured at GE Vernova's facility in Pune . The plant is expected to support up to 1,500 MW of annual production capacity at full utilisation, strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities and supporting the company's long-term growth plans in India . GE Vernova said the new turbine platform has been developed to suit Indian wind conditions while offering higher efficiency, reliability and operational performance. The model incorporates a 30-year design life, advanced lightning protection systems and digital blade certification technology. The company described the project as an important milestone for its wind business in India and highlighted the significance of introducing the new turbine platform in one of the world's fastest-growing renewable energy markets. It also noted that local manufacturing and ALMM certification position the company to participate more actively in India's accelerating renewable energy expansion. Powerica said the Botad project will strengthen its independent power producer portfolio and deepen its presence in Gujarat's renewable energy sector. India has set a target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power generation capacity by 2030, including 100 GW from wind energy.
