RIMOUSKI, Nov. 1 /CNW Telbec/ - Petrolia (PEA-TSX-V) announces they have successfully concluded PEA-1 well logging (Ber-1), and that drill-stem tests got underway last week. The well logging reveals density and speed variations that pinpoint high-porosity zones in the GaspDe Sandstone Group (Lower Devonian). To determine whether the oil indicators intersected during drilling originate from one of these zones, the field team conducted a first series of drill-stem tests at different depths. The initial results indicate the presence of a prospective area roughly five metres thick, between 390 and 415 metres depth. Petrolia has decided to concentrate testing in this zone, over a more extensive time period. The shallow target means a lower capacity drill could be used for testing, thereby freeing-up the current drill for the second PEA-2 drilling (Wakeham-1). "Our efforts will be concentrated in the 400-metre zone. At this depth we can substantially reduce operating costs and more quickly reach the break-even point. Therefore, important work will be carried out in this well with a view to potential assessment and eventual production," stated AndrDe Proulx, Company President. Petrolia could thus start drilling its second PEA-2 wells (Wakeham-1) within the next few days. PEA-1 and PEA-2 are located 30 and 12 km (respectively) from the Town of GaspDe along highway 198, which runs from Gaspe to Murdochville.
