Evertz Highlights FX-LINK Expansion Architecture for

NEXX Routing Platform at NAB 2025

Evertz will spotlight the power and scalability of its proven FX-LINK expansion architecture for NEXX routers, offering seamless multi-frame routing and hybrid SDI/IP flexibility.

Burlington, Canada. April 4, 2025: Evertz will be using the NAB 2025 platform to showcase FX-LINK, the high-performance expansion architecture for its NEXX processing and routing platform. Already proven in the field, FX-LINK provides broadcast facilities, OB trucks, venues and production environments with a powerful and scalable solution for SDI and hybrid IP routing.

With demand increasing for infrastructure that supports evolving workflows, from 12G-SDI to SMPTE ST 2110, NEXX with FX-LINK gives broadcasters the flexibility to scale up while simplifying deployment and maintaining operational consistency.

FX-LINK is Evertz's next-generation interconnection, X-LINK, technology that enables bidirectional 32x32 IO per link. Creating non-blocking routing between frames. Supporting UHD (4K/8K) video, FX-LINK connects NEXX frames via fiber up to 2km - 400 times the range of X-LINK, which was 5 meters.

The system allows up to six NEXX frames, each available in 3RU (96x96) or 5RU (384x384) configurations, to be linked together, forming a single 960x960 non-blocking 12G-SDI routing matrix. That is six physical frames acting as one virtual router, one user interface, truly non-blocking. With internal links between IO and XC modules and the ability to create a Distributed Floating Backplane (DFBP), FX-LINK also enables seamless expansion without affecting system IO or workflow logic.

Key to this solution is Evertz's modular NEXX chassis, built around a passive interface and supporting hot-swappable IO modules, redundant control and a broad range of media processing functions. These include frame sync, up/down/cross conversion, JPEG XS encode/decode, integrated Multiviewers, and glue using our NEXX-SCORPION - all orchestrated via MAGNUM-OS.

NEXX supports full audio shuffling between embedded audio, MADI, and TDM (for AES, analog and Dante), while the addition of NEXX-670 and NEXX-SCORPION modules extends support to native IP, HDMI and compressed workflows.

FX-LINK also allows direct connectivity to other Evertz products without consuming IO slots, offering even greater flexibility and reducing infrastructure complexity. This includes our LM-COREs for Bravo and Dreamcatcher connectivity for a true LiveStack.

The platform is managed through MAGNUM-OS, Evertz's orchestration layer that provides seamless routing, multiviewer control, monitoring and analytics. Operators benefit from real-time system health feedback and control via web interfaces, physical panels or VUE - Evertz's context-aware workflow interface.

Visit Evertz at NAB 2025 in North Hall, Booth N915, to discover how NEXX with FX-LINK continues to solve real-world broadcast challenges - delivering scalable, hybrid-ready infrastructure that protects investment while preparing facilities for the future.
