EnviTec Biogas is set to expand its regional footprint with plans to build its first biogas plant in the Philippines , following a partnership agreement with First Quezon Biogas Corporation , POWERLINE writes. The venture marks a major in the country’s efforts to diversify its energy mix and reduce reliance on imported fuels. The 1.4-MW facility, to be sited in Candelaria in Quezon Province , is scheduled to begin delivering power to the Meralco distribution network by June 2026 . Once operational, the plant will convert poultry manure sourced from an estimated 4.5mn broiler chickens, alongside rice-straw silage, into renewable electricity and organic fertiliser — a model increasingly adopted across South-East Asia as agriculture-linked waste streams gain commercial value. Construction is already under way and will include two fermenters of 5,250 m³ each, a dedicated biogas engine, an intake hall, a clamp silo and a transformer unit. A digestate lagoon will support fertiliser production. The remaining technical systems are expected to be installed in the early months of 2026, paving the way for commissioning later in the year. © 2025 bne IntelliNews, source Magazine
