Now, Washimori will present.
Washimori: Hello, everyone. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to join us today. I am Washimori, PR & IR Department General Manager. As you were informed earlier, I would like to briefly explain the details of the financial results announced yesterday.I will follow the table of contents.
These are the financial highlights.
Although sales and profits declined YoY in H1 of the fiscal year, excluding the impact of the strong yen, both sales and business profit remained almost flat. I will provide more details later in the overview page.
The forecast for the full year has been revised upward due to better-than-expected H1 results and revision of exchange rate assumption in H2 to a weaker yen.
With regard to shareholder returns, dividends will remain as planned at the beginning of the fiscal year, and share buybacks up to JPY5 billion will be implemented. We are planning to retire all shares in January after the New year.
I will now give an overview of the financial results.
First, this is the market environment for the major applications in which our products are used and our sales trends.
Market trends were almost on par with the previous year in all markets except for laptop PCs. As for the laptop PC market, we see that replacement demand is continuing.
As for our company's trend, sales of tablets decreased due to a decrease in the volume of some models incorporating our products, and laptop PC sales were also down due to the impact of the discontinuation of phosphor film at the end of H1 of the previous fiscal year, although anti-reflection film sales were strong.
Sales of smartphones increased as the adoption of pre-cut anisotropic conductive films for camera module applications has progressed.
Automobiles sales declined due to reactionary decline following a buildup of initial deliveries of Anti-reflection films (ARF) in the previous fiscal year.
