Archroma’s heritage with respect to Huntsman business dates back to 1758 when J R Geigy was formed as a trading company in Basel for Dyes & Chemicals, whereas for Clariant business the heritage goes back to 1886, when Textile dye-maker Kern & Sandoz was founded in Basel. More than a century later, in 1995, the company spun into Clariant, which later acquired Specialty chemicals business of Hoechst
