Bulgin Power Source wins £1 million contract from Logica
Bulgin Power Source, the Lincoln-based manufacturer of power
supplies, has been awarded a £1million contract from Logica to
supply battery charging and management products for Transco's new
network of control, communications and telemetry systems.
In March this year, Logica announced that it had won a £60million
contract to develop and implement the next generation of network
control computer systems and associated telemetry for Transco,
which owns and operates the 275,000km UK gas pipeline network. The
development programme will ensure that Transco has the flexibility
to support the evolution of the UK gas industry.
Bulgin Power Source will play a key role in the programme by
providing the high-reliability power supply and battery management
technology at the heart of the new systems.
Logica reports that having worked successfully with Bulgin Power
Source previously, they have confidence in their ability to deliver
a quality product within the required time scales.
Grant Ashley, managing director of Bulgin Power Source, said 'We
are delighted to have been chosen by Logica as a partner in the
Transco programme. This is our second major contract from Logica
within the utilities telemetry sector and reinforces our capability
of providing high-quality power solutions.'
