CM.com is entering into a strategic partnership with VOLT, the AI infrastructure developer founded by entrepreneur Han de Groot.
The parties announced this earlier this morning. The aim of the partnership is to create a sovereign AI environment for organisations in the Netherlands and Europe that operate in highly regulated sectors.
Initially, they will focus on banks, insurers, government bodies and healthcare institutions. These are precisely the sectors where it is critically important that access to and use of data take place within European national borders. Only then can there be certainty that local laws and regulations are being correctly applied.
“AI is developing at lightning speed, but many organisations cannot simply keep up,” says Jeroen van Glabbeek, CEO of CM.com, in a press release. “Risks around data, legislation and dependence on foreign technology are holding back innovation. By bringing together hardware, infrastructure and AI software in an integrated European AI infrastructure, we are making it possible to apply AI safely and responsibly at scale.”
The partnership combines the AI data centres of VOLT, including the planned AI Gigafactory in Rotterdam, featuring powerful GPU infrastructure, with CM.com’s AI application platform.
