The Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. (the "Company") hereby announces that it has submitted a report to the mayor of Kaminoseki-cho today, stating that as a result of a possibility survey on the site for the construction of interim storage facilities for spent nuclear fuel at the Kaminoseki site (the "Interim Storage Facilities"), the Company has concluded that there were no problems that could not be addressed technically and that the site of the Interim Storage Facilities is possible.
In February 2023, the Company received a request from the Mayor of Kaminoseki-cho to consider measures for regional promotion, in August of the same year, it decided to consider the construction of interim storage facilities using dry storage within its property in Kaminoseki-cho Oaza Nagashima.* The Company has been conducting surveys to ascertain the possibility of siting the Interim Storage Facilities and to obtain the necessary information for considering the plan.
As a result of analysis and confirmation based on the objective data obtained from this survey, the Company concluded that there were no problems that could not be technically addressed that would hinder the site of the interim storage facilities.
We will make efforts to communicate the results of the survey in an easy-to-understand manner to residents of the community and gain their further understanding.
