Chinese food products manufacturer company Foshan Haitian Flavouring and Food (SSE: 603288) is exploring the possibility of establishing an integrated industrial complex in Egypt, Economy Plus reported on March 2.
The development aims to cater to the local market while positioning Egypt as a regional hub for exporting the company's products to Africa and the Middle East.
Foshan Haitian produces over 1,000 product varieties, including oyster sauce, vinegar, and cooking wine, and holds a dominant share of the Chinese domestic condiments market.
A delegation from Foshan Haitian met with Tarek El-Houbi, Head of the Egyptian Food Safety Authority, to discuss the proposed project. The industrial complex will strengthen local supply chains and support regional trade agreements, thereby enhancing product competitiveness in international markets.
El-Houbi said that such investments are considered strategic for Egypt's food security system. He added that the project would promote local manufacturing, reduce dependency on imports, and transfer modern technology and expertise to the Egyptian market, all while adhering to the highest food safety and quality standards.
Both parties agreed to continue technical coordination and complete detailed studies in preparation for the next steps, strengthening the strong economic ties between Egypt and China and supporting the country's strategy to attract quality investments in the food industry.
