Chinese wind turbine maker Goldwind Science & Technology (SHE:002202) said on May 11 it has inked a cooperation agreement with Turkish energy company Ova Enerji for the 43.5-megawatt Cayirlar hybrid project in western Turkey.
Wind generation will be combined with with battery energy storage at the project in Bergama district of Izmir province, Goldwind posted on LinkedIn.
It added that five GWH182-7.5MW turbines and one GW165-6.0MW unit, as well as a battery energy storage system (BESS), would be established for the Cayirlar investment. Goldwind added that the project would to enhance grid stability.
Goldwind said that Erdem Holding, the parent company conglomerate behind Ova Enerji, was an early private investor in Turkey's development of renewable energy.
Goldwind also stated that it anticipated that its cumulative installed and contracted capacity in Turkey wills stand at more than 1,200 MW by the end of the year.
The GWH182 platform is also being rolled out across markets in South America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, the company added.
