China's AI chip ecosystem is gradually taking shape with expansion plans across chip packaging, logic and memory chips, Daiwa analysts say in a research note. SJ Semiconductor debuted on Shanghai's STAR board on Tuesday and its shares surged almost fourfold. The company, which specializes in chip packaging and testing, attracted strategic investors including supply-chain players like Hygon Information, Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment and Moore Threads, among others. These AI chip providers' investment in SJS reflects a strategic move to secure future advanced packaging capacity. Meanwhile, SJS's capacity expansion creates opportunities for local chip-equipment providers like AMEC and Naura, as they have become increasingly active in advanced packaging tools development over the past 12 months, Daiwa says.
