The Board of the Company announces that, with effect from 5 November 2026, the name of the Company has changed to Chikara Japan Income & Growth Trust plc.
The name change reflects the rebranding of the Company's investment manager, formerly Coupland Cardiff Asset Management, as Chikara Investments, which took place in 2023. "Chikara", meaning "strength" in Japanese, reflects the investment manager's longstanding expertise and commitment to investing in Japan.
The Board believes that adopting the Chikara name better aligns the Company's identity with that of its investment manager and acknowledges Chikara Investments' established reputation as a specialist Japan-focused investment manager.
The Company confirms that the name change is administrative in nature and that there are no changes to:
- the Company's investment objective or investment policy;
- the Company's investment process;
- the portfolio management team;
- the Company's Board of Directors; or
- any other operational or management arrangements.
The Company will continue to be managed by the same investment team led by Richard Aston and will continue to employ the investment approach that has been in place since the Company's launch in December 2015.
The Company's London Stock Exchange TIDM remains CCJI. The Company's ISIN, SEDOL and LEI also remain unchanged. Companies House confirms that the Company’s new name has been registered and, following receipt of the Certificate of Incorporation on Change of Name, the Company will liaise with the FCA and the LSE to affect the name change on the Official List and for trading purposes as soon as practicable.
Shareholders should note that their shareholdings will be unaffected by the change of name. Existing share certificates should be retained as they will remain valid for all purposes and no replacement share certificates will be issued in connection with the change of name.
