Globinvest, a Romanian fund manager with over 30 years of tradition, marked the first anniversary of listing its first ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) - the Globinvest Energy & Financials ETF - on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) with an anniversary event at the BVB headquarters on April 28. The ETF, traded under the ticker symbol GIBEFETF, is the only one at BVB tracking the BET-EF index.
Throughout the 12 months since its listing, GIBEFETF reached a maximum price return of 73.3%, while the fund's net assets reached RON 15.5 million.
Created by BVB in 2024, the BET-EF index reflects the performance of Romanian companies listed on the Exchange's Regulated Market within the energy, utilities, and financials sectors. It is a free-float market capitalization-weighted index, with a maximum weight of 20% per company. Constituents are selected based on both liquidity and free-float market capitalization criteria, ensuring that only the most liquid and significant stocks are included. The BET-EF index currently includes the following companies: Banca Transilvania (TLV), OMV Petrom (SNP), Romgaz (SNG), Hidroelectrica (H2O), Transgaz (TGN), BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD), Electrica (EL), Nuclearelectrica (SNN), Transelectrica (TEL), Premier Energy (PE), and the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).
As of the end of the trading day on April 27, the total market capitalization of all companies listed on the BVB Main Segment stood at RON 581.37 billion. At the same time, the market capitalization of all listed Romanian companies within the three sectors covered by the BET-EF index represents approximately RON 308.47 billion, accounting for over 53% of the total Main Segment capitalization. In terms of return, since its launch, the BET-EF has recorded a growth of 60.52%. Since the beginning of the year, the BET-EF index has increased by 20.81%.
"We are marking one year since the Globinvest Energy & Financials ETF began providing every BVB investor with the combined strength of the energy, utilities, and financials sectors. The evolution of this investment tool is built upon Globinvest's 30-year tradition in asset management, with the total net assets of their managed funds exceeding RON 470 million. Launched in April of last year, this ETF is a versatile and cost-effective solution that allows investors to diversify their portfolios and build healthy, long-term investment habits. By simplifying investment access, the ETF can help expand the investor base at BVB and contribute to the popularity and development of the Bucharest Stock Exchange. We congratulate Globinvest on this one-year anniversary and wish them a long and successful journey on the capital market," stated Radu Hanga, President of the BVB Board of Governors.
"The BET-EF index brings together sectors with a major impact on the Romanian economy-energy, utilities, and finance-offering investors direct access to the country's primary growth engines. The market capitalization of the companies in these sectors, included in the BET-EF index, currently exceeds RON 308.47 billion, representing over 53% of the total market capitalization. One year ago, Globinvest launched the only ETF on the Exchange that tracks the BET-EF index, consolidating the performance of its 11 issuers into a single product. Investors have the chance to prosper by owning a stake in Romania's flagship companies across these three fields, without the complexity of managing an individual portfolio. We are glad to have partners like Globinvest, whose modern solutions reconfirm that the Exchange is a destination open to everyone. Such an ETF represents the shortest path from intention to investment, offering clarity, diversification, and the freedom for every investor to build a solid financial future," stated Remus Vulpescu, CEO of BVB.
The Globinvest Energy & Financials ETF was launched by SAI Globinvest, a Romanian company with over 30 years of experience in investment management, founded in Cluj-Napoca. The total net assets of the investment funds managed by SAI Globinvest exceed RON 470 million.
"The results of the first year of activity for the Globinvest Energy & Financials ETF (ticker: GIBEFETF) confirm its position as one of the most efficient investment vehicles listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The fund recorded a maximum return of over 73.3%, attracted more than 914 investors, and reached assets under management of over RON 15.5 million.
These results reflect SAI Globinvest's three decades of expertise in the Romanian capital market-a manager that currently oversees total assets exceeding RON 470 million. In this context, the company is consolidating its development strategy and is preparing to launch a new strategic ETF on the Bucharest Stock Exchange soon," stated Nicolae Adrian Pastor, General Manager of Globinvest.
The ETF benefits from liquidity provider (market maker) services provided by IFB Finwest, the firm that also handled the admission of the GIBEFETF units to the BVB last year, on April 28, 2025.
