About this update from Companhia De Saneamento Basico Do Estado De Sao Paulo Sabesp
By Alberto Alerigi Brazilian sanitation company Sabesp BMFBOVESPA:SBSP3 said on Wednesday it more than doubled its investments to a record 15.2 billion reais ($2.90 billion) in 2025, the first full year after its privatization by the Sao Paulo state government.KEY CONTEXTSabesp delivered 16 sewage treatment stations and nearly 800 kilometers (497.1 miles) of major sewer pipes last year, it said. The company aims to provide universal access to basic sanitation across Sao Paulo state, Brazil's richest and most populous state, by 2029. Sabesp was privatized in 2024, with Equatorial BMFBOVESPA:EQTL3 as reference shareholder. "We will probably see even greater investment volume in 2026," Sabesp CEO Carlos Piani told Reuters in an interview. POTENTIAL BID FOR COPASA Piani said that Sabesp continues to evaluate opportunities to expand its operations beyond Sao Paulo state. That could include the privatization of Minas Gerais-based utility Copasa BMFBOVESPA:CSMG3. Sabesp's interest would depend not only on the price but also on the rules for the privatization, Piani said.($1 = 5.2387 reais)
