Beasley Broadcast : 97.5 The Fanatic Program Director Scott Masteller Announces Retirement

PHILADELPHIA - Sept. 14, 2026 - Beasley Media Group announced today that Scott Masteller, program director of 97.5 The Fanatic (WPEN-FM), will retire effective Dec. 31, concluding a distinguished radio career spanning more than 45 years. Since joining The Fanatic more than three years ago, Masteller has played an important role in the Philadelphia sports station's continued growth. He helped realign its programming strategy, reshape the on-air lineup and bring together the current team of personalities representing the brand. In addition, Masteller worked closely with several of the station's key voices, using his experience as a programmer and talent coach to support their development and growth. "Scott has brought tremendous knowledge, thoughtful leadership and a deep commitment to excellence to The Fanatic," said Paul Blake, vice president and market manager of Beasley Media Group Philadelphia. "He understands what makes sports radio meaningful to its audience and has always been generous in sharing his insight with those around him. Scott was key in The Fanatic's growth, and he helped position the station well for its next chapter. A veteran programmer, on-air personality and radio executive, Masteller has specialized in spoken-word content throughout his career, with an emphasis on news and sports programming. Before joining The Fanatic, he spent seven years as program director of WBAL NewsRadio in Baltimore. During his tenure, Masteller also worked extensively with several prominent sports properties, constructing and managing radio networks for the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens and Navy football. Masteller previously spent 13 years with ESPN. His roles included serving as program director of ESPN Radio in Dallas-Fort Worth and senior director of content for ESPN Radio at the company's headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. While at ESPN, he helped develop numerous on-air hosts and contributed to programming efforts in multiple markets. His additional career stops included Portland, Oregon; Salt Lake City; and Lexington, Kentucky.
