Media release Waitsia Gas Plant reaches nameplate Wednesday, 29 April 2026 Beach Energy is pleased to announce a key pillar of Australia's domestic energy infrastructure, the Waitsia Gas Plant, has reached nameplate capacity of 250TJ/day. Waitsia is the largest gas plant commissioned in Western Australia since 2016 and the closest to Perth with the capacity to deliver the equivalent of nearly one quarter of the state's domestic natural gas demand. Beach Managing Director and CEO Brett Woods said Waitsia, a Joint Venture project with operator MEPAU, will be a significant supplier of energy to our critical Asian customers who are supporting Australia with liquid fuels, and to the domestic market for many decades after the approved LNG export window expires. "Waitsia Gas Plant enables the unlocking of additional resources from the Perth Basin and will play a crucial role in supplying reliable and affordable energy to the state's existing residential and industrial customers as well as enabling new opportunities for new electrical power generation." "The plant is a critical piece of infrastructure providing economic stimulus for the Mid-West region as well as energy security and royalties for the state." In the Perth Basin, Beach operates the Beharra Springs Gas Plant, which delivers natural gas to domestic customers in Western Australia and holds a non-operated interest in both the Waitsia and Xyris Gas Plants.
