Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC
11 June 2007
Appointment of Chief Operating Officer
Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc, a world leader in the industrial steam-using and
peristaltic pumping markets, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark
Vernon (54) to the newly established position of Chief Operating Officer
reporting to the Chief Executive, Marcus Steel, with effect from 12th June 2007.
Mark will be responsible for the day to day delivery of the Group's operating
results. As such, the operating management of the Spirax Sarco and Watson-Marlow
Bredel businesses will report to him. He will relocate to the UK as a result of
this appointment and will continue with his existing responsibilities.
This appointment will allow Marcus to spend more time on medium and longer term
issues.
Mark joined the Group in May 2003 as President of Spirax Sarco Inc. in the USA
and took that business forward very successfully. He then came onto the Board of
Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc in July 2006 with responsibility for the operations
in the Americas and for Group Marketing. Prior to joining Spirax, Mark built up
a broad experience in the valve and process control industry throughout the
world with Valtek and its subsequent parents, Durco and Flowserve.
Marcus Steel said: 'This appointment is designed to help us to continue to
develop and expand the Group's worldwide activities. We are delighted that Mark
has accepted this important new challenge.'
