Amigo LNG secures 15-year supply deal with Macquarie Group

About this update from Macquarie Group, Ltd.

Amigo LNG has executed a long-term sale and purchase agreement with Macquarie Group for 0.6mn tonnes per annum of LNG over 15 years, LNG Alliance announced. The Mexican joint venture between Texas -based Epcilon LNG and Singapore -based LNG Alliance will supply Macquarie's Commodities and Global Markets business starting with the first liquefaction train's commercial operations, targeted for the second half of 2028. The agreement strengthens Amigo LNG's position as a cornerstone of emerging global LNG trade. The facility's location in Guaymas, Sonora , combined with connectivity to US Permian Basin gas, offers buyers efficient shipping routes with faster transit times and competitive costs to Asia-Pacific and Latin American markets. 'It is a privilege to have Macquarie join our portfolio of LNG offtakers,' said Dr Muthu Chezhian , chief executive of LNG Alliance . 'Their reputation as a trusted and innovative global energy player reinforces the strong fundamentals of our project and highlights the long-term value AMIGO LNG will bring to global buyers.' Michael Bennett , managing director in Macquarie's Commodities and Global Markets business, emphasised LNG's critical role in the global energy mix as a reliable and flexible fuel source. The agreement reflects Macquarie's commitment to meeting diverse client energy needs worldwide whilst demonstrating strength in rapidly growing demand regions. Amigo LNG deploys advanced US liquefaction technology and modern marine infrastructure designed to meet high safety, sustainability, environmental and operational performance standards. The project represents a significant development in regional energy security and global LNG supply chains. Amigo LNG has been busy of late securing offtake agreements. In addition to the deal with Macquarie Group , Amigo LNG also announced in August a 20-year LNG deal with commodity trading house Gunvor Singapore, which will see it supply 0.85mn tpy of the super-chilled fuel. Amigo LNG, located in the port city of Guaymas in Mexico's northwestern state of Sonora , is aiming to begin commercial operations in 2028. © 2025 bne IntelliNews, source Magazine
