4 Gas transmission system
Transmission system
The natural gas transmission system consists of main gas pipelines, gas compressor stations, gas distribution stations, gas metering stations, gas pipeline corrosion protection equipment, data transmission and communication systems and other assets assigned to the transmission system. The Lithuanian gas transmission system is connected to the gas transmission systems of the Republic of Poland, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation, and the Klaipėda liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.
The company operates 64 gas distribution stations, 4 gas metering stations and 2 gas compressor stations, 5 connections with customers' biogas metering stations. The length of the pipelines in operation is 2288 km, the diameter is from 100 to 1220 mm. The design pressure of the majority of the transmission system is 54 bar.

Year Development Plan
The 2026 updated Amber Grid strategy includes significant investments in the modernization of the existing gas infrastructure and the development of new networks. For the first time, a public consultation was held together with Litgrid on a common scenario for the development of electricity, gas and hydrogen networks. The planned projects and preliminary investments were presented, and the comments of market participants are currently being analyzed. The updated network development plans will be published at the beginning of the second half of 2026.
The 10-year (2024-2033) network development plan of Amber Grid, prepared in 2024, is currently in force, which was approved by the NERC in October 2024. The plan focuses mainly on:
modernization of gas infrastructure and system security,
integration of renewable energy sources,
development of a hydrogen transportation network and synergy with the electricity sector,
reduction of GHG emissions.
One of the main commitments is to modernize the national gas transmission system, taking into account the goals of energy independence and decarbonization and the needs of RES project developers. When preparing the hydrogen network plan, solutions were coordinated with Litgrid and

New Amber Grid System Control Center
On March 20, a new, state-of-the-art System Control Center (SCC) was opened. Approximately 1.6 million euros were invested in the project, which was implemented over a year and a half. This is an important strategic investment that strengthens the country's energy security, independence, gas transmission reliability and resilience to emergency situations. The new system control center has a modern SCADA system installed, allowing for remote monitoring and control of the entire Lithuanian gas transmission network.
First electric compressor at Jauniūnai
compressor station
On September 10, Amber Grid and MT Group signed a contract for the installation of the first electric compressor at Jauniūnai compressor station. The contract value is EUR 30.9 million (EUR 37.4 million including VAT), the works will last 42 months, which began in September 2025.
According to the contract, design and construction works will be carried out, an integrated electric compressor with a capacity of about 5 MW and related equipment will be installed. It is also planned to build a new power line from Širvintos to Jauniūnai gas compressor station, which will ensure the necessary electrical power.
NBHC project receives funding for feasibility study phase
July 1st. The Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor (NBHC) project developers -Finnish Gasgrid vetyverkot Oy, Estonian Elering, Latvian Conexus Baltic Grid, Lithuanian Amber Grid, Polish GAZ-SYSTEM, German ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) signed an agreement on the European Union (EU) financial support for the Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor. Percentage of Amber Grid annual targets for 2025 approved by the Management Board
Some of the goals remained unimplemented partly due to objective circumstances: partners' decisions to pause and review the progress of projects, changed circumstances in search of better solutions for already ongoing projects.
the transfer of GET Baltic's operations
13th October. The renewable gas entering the gas transmission system currently consists of biomethane, which is imported from abroad and produced in Lithuania. At the end of 2025, there were five biomethane-producing companies operating in Lithuania. The actual volumes of biomethane supplied to the system by producers were lower than the quantities they had planned to deliver.
