On 15 June, ALCOMET AD officially inaugurated its new production facilities during a ceremonial event attended by numerous guests from Bulgaria and abroad. Among the distinguished attendees was the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev.
Over the past year, Alcomet has successfully implemented a major investment programme aimed at expanding and modernizing its production capacities while introducing state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies. The investment project, launched in 2023, received a Certificate for a Priority Investment Project of Strategic Importance to the Bulgarian economy. With a total investment of EUR 70 million, the project has created 160 new jobs.
As a result of this investment, the company's annual production capacity for rolled products has increased to 115,000 tonnes, while extrusion products capacity has reached 45,000 tonnes. Alcomet has also significantly expanded its product portfolio, strengthening its presence in the automotive industry, electric mobility, renewable energy, construction, and industrial applications.
The newly commissioned equipment includes an Achenbach Optimill 4-high rolling mill for battery foil production, a 10-inch Presezzi extrusion press with a pressing force of 40 MN (4,000 tonnes), foil and coil annealing furnaces, and other advanced technological solutions that will further enhance production efficiency and product quality.
The inauguration ceremony brought together representatives of the national and local authorities, members of the diplomatic community, business leaders, academics, and Alcomet's commercial partners from across Europe and the United States.
The event was officially opened by Alcomet's majority shareholder, Fikret Ince, who expressed his gratitude to the entire project team, the company's management, and all partners whose dedication and professionalism contributed to the successful implementation of this strategic investment.
During the ceremony, guests were presented with a short film showcasing the construction and development of the new production facilities, followed by congratulatory addresses from the official guests.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Prime Minister Rumen Radev and the Minister of Economy symbolically launched the operation of the new rolling mill by pressing the start button. The guests were then invited to tour the newly completed production halls and experience first-hand the advanced technologies integrated into the facility.
