Advanced Powerline Technologies, Inc., Today Announces That It Anticipates An Expansion Of The BPL Market
WOODWARD, OK -- (PINKSHEETS) - December 8, 2006 -- Advanced Powerline Technologies, Inc., (Pink Sheets: APWL - News) announces today that it anticipates a significant expansion of the BPL market due to the recent FCC ruling on BPL.
Advanced Powerline Technologies, Inc., (APT) today announces that it anticipates a significant expansion of the BPL market due to the FCC ruling which classified BPL as an information service rather than a telecommunications service. APT's principal business focus is to create and develop Broadband over Power Line (BPL) and Power Line Communications (PLC) friendly devices, products, and services. Power lines run to practically every building and within each building, usually to many points in each room. PLC allows devices to communicate over the existing power lines, while BPL uses power lines as a broadband internet connection.
DSL and cable modem, the other popular broadband service technologies, were already classified as information services. The FCC's decision allows BPL to compete with these other technologies where they exist without imposing costly extra regulations on BPL. DSL and cable modem are widely available in the United States in large-to-medium sized population centers, but that still leaves large portions of the country underserved. DSL has strict distance limitations, and there are many areas where cable modem is not an option. Power lines already go to virtually every building, and by using them instead of laying new cable, BPL can extend broadband into areas that are not served by the other technologies. APT has technology that it believes will be key in a successful expansion of BPL, and the company looks forward to taking full advantage of the opportunities provided by this decision.
Advanced Powerline Technologies, Inc.'s principal business focus is to create and develop Broadband over Power Line (BPL) and Power Line Communications (PLC) friendly devices, products and services. The company's principal products at this time are liquid crystal display (LCD) digital televisions with high definition tuners (HDTV). The company intends on marketing the sales of High Definition Digital Televisions (HDTV) internationally and domestically. Upon the completion of research, development, and the verification of test results of the company's Broadband over Power Line (BPL) and Power Line Communications (PLC) devices, the company intends to utilize the technology within the existing product platforms to enhance their capabilities. Advanced Powerline Technologies, Inc.'s main products will become Broadband over Power Line (BPL) and Power Line Communications (PLC) friendly devices with the Company's related hardware and system service.
