Toronto, Ontario (FSCwire) - Alexander Nubia International Inc. (TSX-V: AAN) (the “Company”) is very pleased to report excellent final results from its recent drilling program at its flagship Hamama Project. Hamama is a gold-rich VMS system with a Main Horizon strike of 3 kilometres, along which the three main mineralized bodies are located; Hamama West, Hamama Central and Hamama East. Mineralization consists of shallow-dipping, stacked, base-metal zones and a steeply dipping Main Horizon, which contains significant Au and Ag mineralization along the footwall. There are NE and NW structural controls on mineralization at Hamama and the system remains open both along strike and at depth.

SELECT HIGH GRADE RESULTS FOR DRILL HOLE AHA-58 IN HAMAMA WEST:

  • 39 m (53.0-92.0 m) at 1.64% Zn, 0.25 g/t Au and 25.7 g/t Ag (base metal zone), including 4.0 m at 6.75% Zn and 0.46% Cu
  • 12.3 m (92.0-104.3 m) at 2.49% Zn, 0.29% Cu, 0.26 g/t Au and 41.4 g/t Ag (base metal zone), including 2.0 m at 3.27% Zn and 0.63% Cu
  • 43.5 m (112.5-156.0 m) at 3.70% Zn, 0.23% Cu, 2.61 g/t Au and 150 g/t Ag (Main Horizon), including a high-grade zone of 5.0 m at 7.71 g/t Au and 208.4 g/t Ag
  • 50.7 m (160.0-210.7 m) at 0.69 g/t Au and 29.7 g/t Ag (structural foot wall) including 7.0 m at 1.53 g/t Au and 53.9 g/t Ag

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Drill hole AHA-58 was mineralized from surface to 210 metres, comprising Zn, Cu and Pb with low grade Au and Ag contained in shallow-dipping base metal zones, then a high-grade Au-Ag-Zn-Cu-Pb zone and ending in a broad Au-Ag only mineralized footwall at the metasedimentary contact.
  • Base metal content increases significantly down-dip from AHA-31, with AHA-58 intersecting broad zones of Zn, Cu and Pb.

Mark Campbell, Chief Executive Officer of Alexander Nubia stated: “Our exploration team has done a fantastic job expanding the mineralized footprint of Hamama with each drill step out. Drill hole AHA-58, located 40 metres NW from AHA-31, which returned 88 metres at 1.11 g/t Au and 118 g/t Ag (see News Release dated May 12, 2015), intercepted the broadest zones containing the highest metal grades at Hamama to-date, supporting our geological model that mineralization increases in width and grade with depth. We are very excited by these results and it sets the stage for the next phase of our drilling program and further strengthens our belief in the potential of our flagship project at Hamama.”

Table 1: New Drill Assay Results for Hamama West. 1 Lower cut of 0.2 g/t Au applied to gold-silver-mineralized zones. 2 Gold equivalent (AuEq) numbers is calculated using the 12-month trailing average for Au and Ag through 2015-04-31, US1239/0z Au and $17.85/oz Ag); source: Kitco.com. Using this ratio of US$Au:US$Ag (=69.4) and assuming 100% recovery and no top cut, the AuEq formula is AuEq=(Au g/t + Ag g/t/69.4). Cautionary note: these figures will change slightly over time. 3 Lower cut of 0.2% Zn applied to base metal-rich zones. Weighted averages were calculated for reporting purposes. The holes reported in this news release were drilled sub-perpendicular to the strike length of Hamama’s Main Horizon. True widths are estimated to be 85-100 % of the reported intervals.

“The results from the last hole (AHA-58) drilled in our Q2 diamond drilling program at Hamama are highly encouraging and leave the system wide open,” said Danae Voormeij, exploration manager. “We have started planning for the next program, which will entail geophysics and resource drilling at Hamama and exploration drilling at our exciting Abu Zawal historic gold mine project. Egypt has excellent mineral potential and we are well positioned to make more discoveries.”

Diamond drill hole AHA-58 tested the primary sulphide beneath, and directly north of, the Gold-Oxide Cap and was a 40 metre- step-out from AHA-31, which previously returned 88 metres at 1.11 g/t Au and 118 g/t Ag (see News Release dated May 12, 2015). AHA-58 intersected significant zinc and copper mineralization in addition to high-grade precious-metals over broad widths, which show strong correlation with the mineralized drill intercepts from AHA-31 (see Figure 2).

Ms Voormeij explains: “Mineralization at Hamama displays strong structural control. Similar northwest-and northeast-trending faults are also known to control mineralization at Bisha (see Nevsun’s 2014 NI 43-101 Technical Report) and Hassai (see La Mancha’s 2009 NI 43-101 Technical Report). Rather than being formed in a seafloor setting with later remobilization of the metals, it is far more probable that these VMS systems are orogenic; formed during the NeoProterozoic Pan-African mountain building event. The northeast faults at Hamama likely controlled the dilation of the Main Horizon; at Hamama West a northeast fault shows at least 100 meters offset (see Figure 2), suggesting a structural control on the very wide and high-grade intercepts that we drilled in both AHA-58 and AHA-31.”

At Hamama West, the Main Horizon daylights as a distinctive gossan ridge, 900 metres in strike length, with a gold and silver-enriched oxide horizon, known as the Gold-Oxide Cap (Figure 1) that extends to 35 metres vertical depth, and which previously returned 19 metres at 2.46 g/t Au and 157 g/t Ag in shallow drill hole AHA-46 (see News Release dated June 9, 2015) at the far-western end (see Figure 1).

HAMAMA CENTRAL NEW DRILL RESULTS

This phase of the drill program focused on the Main Horizon at Hamama Central (see Figure 1 plan view map of Hamama), previously tested by a single fence of drill holes to maximum vertical depth of 110 m (AHA-20).  Based on this set of new drill results, the Main Horizon at Hamama Central can now be traced from the mineralized oxide at surface, across strike for 200 m and to a down-dip extension of 170 m vertical depth (see Figure 3 for cross section), with potential for widening of the Main Horizon at depth.

Drill results (Table 3) suggest that Hamama Central, similar to Hamama East (see previous news release dated October 20, 2015), contains multiple stacked shallow-dipping zinc and copper-mineralized zones and a Main Horizon with a gold and silver enriched structural footwall. Mineralization at Hamama Central is continuous over 200 meters strike length and drilled to 170 m vertical depth. The down-dip geometry of the Main Horizon takes a step-wise form; pinching and swelling down-dip, with a repeat of shallow-dipping base metal zones in AHA-48 at depth.

Drill Results for Hamama Central:

  • Shallow-dipping base-metal zones average 7 - 14 m in width; AHA-48 intersected 13 m grading 1.42% Zn; AHA-55 intersected 8 m at 0.90% Zn and deep trench T-141 cut the structural footwall up-dip, grading 1.49% Zn, 18.3 g/t Ag and 0.39 g/t Au over 8 m
  • In hole AHA-48, which contains the deepest intersection in Hamama Central, the Main Horizon pinches out and is diluted by a late mafic dyke
  • Hole AHA-48 intersected similar shallow-dipping base metal zones at depth to those drilled near surface in adjacent drill holes, suggesting the mineralized system repeats itself down-dip

Figure 3 – Long Section Hamama Central C to C’ with view to the northeast. Figure shows drill holes AHA-48, AHA-20, AHA-05, AHA-04, AHA-03 and AHA-06, and the Main Horizon, drilled to 170 m vertical depth. T-76 trench results are 32 m at 2.98% Zn, 0.20% Cu and include a copper rich zone (8 m at 0.57% Cu and 5.67% Zn) as well as the gold-rich structural footwall of 4m at 1.31 g/t Au, 5.5 Ag, 0.23%Cu and 6.79% Zn. These trench results correlate well with the Main Horizon drilled down-dip.

To view the graphic in its original size, please click here

Hamama Central Main Horizon is open laterally along strike and potentially widens again down-dip, as suggested by the repeat in shallow dipping zinc mineralized zones drilled at depth.

ABOUT HAMAMA GOLD-RICH VMS DEPOSIT

Hamama is located within a northeast-trending gold-copper belt that extends for 40 km across the Company’s Abu Marawat Concession. The Main Horizon of Hamama has a strike length of 3 km and is divided into three main zones; Hamama West, Hamama Central and Hamama East (see Figure 1). Mineralization at Hamama crops out at surface, and at Hamama West is deeply weathered into a soft and friable oxidized blanket (the Gold-Oxide Cap), which extends over 900 m in strike length and extends to an average vertical depth of 35 m. Preliminary metallurgical (bottle-roll) test results on the Gold-Oxide Cap returned up to 92.2% Au and 65% Ag recovery by cyanide leach from oxide (see January 13, 2015 News Release).

About Alexander Nubia International Inc.:

Alexander Nubia (TSX-V: AAN) is in the business of exploring for and developing of potentially economic gold and copper deposits in the Central Eastern Desert of the Arabian Nubian Shield (“ANS”). The Company’s 100%-owned concessions, Abu Marawat and Fatiri, between them cover 2,772 km2 of underexplored ground.  Evidence of gold and copper mining in the concessions dates the many surface workings to pre-historic (Copper Age) and Old Kingdom (Pharaonic), through Ptolemaic and Roman and into Early Arab times. Three historic gold mines occur within the two concessions: British miners produced gold at Sir Bakis, Semna and Abu Zawal into the 1920s. None of these mines have been drilled to date.

The Abu Marawat and Fatiri Concessions are underlain by the Proterozoic-aged Pan-African greenstone belt of the ANS. The ANS also underlies the Red Sea and large parts of Saudi Arabia, The Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia.  Significant VMS deposits in the ANS include Barrick [TSX: ABX] and Ma’aden 50:50% JV of Jabal Sayid in Saudi Arabia; Nevsun [TSX: NSU] Bisha Main and Harena in Eritrea; La Mancha’s Hassai and Hadal Awatib in the Sudan and Sunridge [TSX: SGC] Emba Derho, Debarwa and Adi Nefas in Eritrea.  The Company’s Hamama gold-rich VMS shares key geological similarities with these major VMS deposits.

Much of the gold-vein mineralization in the ANS is of the orogenic, quartz-carbonate-type and is associated with major NNW and NE trending shear-zones. Centamin’s Sukari is located 400 km to the south of Abu Marawat, in the same mountain belt. Alteration includes epidote (distal), black chlorite (intermediate) and silica- sericite-pyrite-feldspars (proximal).

Similar geological settings to the ANS include the greenstone belts of the Yilgarn of Western Australia, the Birimian of West Africa and the Abitibi in Quebec, Canada. The ANS is most similar in age to the Birimian.

The Company’s land package, located 350-400 km southeast of Cairo, includes expanding infrastructure; direct access to two four-lane highways, a zero-gradient railway bed that runs through Abu Marawat to a Red Sea port, multiple high-voltage (capacity 220kV) power lines that cross between the two concessions, a water pipeline and nearby major cities: Qena, on the Nile River, 70 km to the west, and Port of Safaga, on the Red Sea, 50 km to the east. The city of Luxor, ancient Thebes, is a two hour drive from Hamama and has an international airport.

Sample Collection and Processing/ALS laboratory Procedures and Analysis/QA and QC:

Drill core sample preparation at Alexander Nubia’s exploration camp includes crushing samples in a jaw crusher and riffle-splitting the product. Compressed air is used to clean the equipment between samples. Then, 200-gram split samples are placed into labelled kraft paper bags, one duplicate of each sample is sent to the Egyptian Mineral Resource Authority (“EMRA”), which retains duplicates of all samples in its permanent storage facility south of Cairo. Crushed samples are sent by courier to ALS Minerals (“ALS”) in Romania, an ISO-certified laboratory, for final processing and assay analysis. Analytical procedures at ALS involve fine crushing and pulverizing to better than 85% passing minus 75 microns of the sample. A 30-gram pulp sample is taken for gold analysis by fire assay. Cu, Zn, Ag and Pb are analyzed by atomic absorption following an aqua regia digestion. Quality control and assurance are maintained by inserting a standard, duplicates or blank sample at random, and blanks are also inserted into high-grade sample streams, averaging one quality-control/assurance sample per 15 core samples. Crushed reject samples are stored at the Company’s Abu Marawat camp.
