TORONTO, Dec. 21, 2011 /CNW/ - Medworxx Inc. ("Medworxx") (TSXV: MWX), a leader in clinical patient flow, compliance and education solutions, today announces an upsurge in adoption of the Medworxx Bed Board amongst the company's clients representing 30% of hospital beds in Canada. Approximately 10% of the nation's acute beds, or 33% of Medworxx Patient Flow clients, are now licensed on the system. Reflecting growing concerns around conserving days in Alternate Levels of Care, when patients could viably be transitioned to more appropriate settings, the upswing reflects many hospitals' demands for visibility into clinical and operational processes.
"STEGH leveraged the functionality of the Medworxx Bed Board to improve bed turnaround times, reducing Emergency Department wait times. For the first time, everyone in our organization can determine the status of a unit or a bed with a click, "says Jen Hilt, RN, Clinical Informatics Specialist, St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH), ON.
Newly rebranded as Medworxx Bed Board (formerly the 'Bed Optimization System'), 33% of Medworxx Patient Flow clients are now using the system to manage patient bed requirements criteria. Grand River Hospital, ON, with 600 beds, and the province of Nova Scotia with 3,000 beds are the newest additions to the Medworxx Bed Board community that also includes Fraser Health, BC and St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, ON. Together, Medworxx Bed Board and Medworxx Utilization Management provide hospitals with the foundation and tools to assess, analyze and advance their patient flow improvement initiatives.
"We recognize measuring for processes, as opposed to only measuring for bed capacity, is the key to tackling patient flow challenges," says Dan Matlow, President and CEO, Medworxx. "Medworxx Bed Board provides all levels of management, as well as portering and housekeeping, with a real-time snapshot of clinical status for patients."
The Medworxx Bed Board was developed in collaboration with St. Michael's Hospital, and has since been implemented at hospital and Provincial levels across Canada. Patients' needs are matched with bed costs, ultimately saving hospital resources. Combined with the actionable reports and displays, Medworxx Bed Board fills the niche of meeting multiple needs with multiple hierarchies.
